A  new perspective on the processing of organic materials for use in agriculture, petrochemistry and fuel production 

HEDVIGA GROUP, a.s. In its patented PTR solution, it represents a method of neo-oxidative slow thermal decomposition, which takes place in closed fuel cells without air access, in the process temperature range of 300 - 600 °C. In the process of thermal conversion, the input charge is always decomposed into other fractions - solid carbon, liquid oil and gas. Depending on the origin of the feedstock, these fractions can also be used as fertilizers or soil improvers in agriculture, as feedstocks in petrochemicals, eg for the production of polypropylene, as liquid, gaseous and solid fuels, as chemical additives in rubber production and others.

A new perspective of PTR technology is especially in the identification of a clear goal of utilization and / or reuse of input raw materials while adhering to the principles of Circular Economics. The input raw materials for PTR technologies are sorted recyclates, waste biomass, sewage sludge or other secondary raw materials. The products that can be produced in this way have product parameters and at the same time a low emission factor.

Proven PTR Technology solution 

The complex solution of the slow thermal decomposition (PTR) of organic materials, including the dual cogeneration unit MOMENTA brings a comprehensive system and simultaneously economically advantageous material and energy utilization of organic materials, especially waste.

As part of the project taking place in the years 2018-2020, HEDVIGA, in cooperation with VÚZT, carried out the production of biochar from waste biomass from agricultural production. In addition to the selection of input biomass, testing of various types of biomass and the production of biochar, bio-oil and T-biogas, the project also included soil tests of the produced biochar.

The result of the project is a proven technology and procedure for the processing of residual bio-raw materials and bio-waste in a quasi-continuous PTR 1000 kW6 plant.

PTR technology is a modular system with an efficient arrangement of reactor parts with thermal chambers including sector heating and robotic controlled fuel cells with a volume of one charge of 1.2 m3. The whole system is connected to the heat transfer oil circuit for heat accumulation from the cogeneration heat circuit. The thermal decomposition process takes place in a patented several-stage mode, from preheating the batch to 120 ° C, through the actual conversion at temperatures up to 600 °C, activation of biochar at short-term temperatures above 600 °C and final cooling to 100 °C.

In addition to the economic efficiency of processing, technological processing shows high market competitiveness of products, which was confirmed on the basis of energy consumption, mass balance and quantitative parameters of obtained products of bio-oil, biochar as soil additive and T-biogas used in the subsequent cogeneration unit .
